Serving as Prime Minister of Russia from 2000 to 2004, Mikhail Kasyanov advanced a number of pro-democratic reforms that opened Russia’s boarders, liberalized trade, and invested in strong national infrastructure and pension programs. He has since served in opposition to Vladimir Putin – both in and out of government – forming the People’s Democratic Union in 2005, and the Republican Party of People’s Freedom in 2010.
