Growth for all in a fast-changing world

Growth for all in a fast-changing world:

In conversation with Mark Carney, Mayor Ken Sim, and Christine Bergeron

As British Columbians and all Canadians look ahead to 2023, we find a global economy being confronted by a series of shocks — the existential threat of climate change, Russia’s war in Ukraine, a cost of living crisis, and fundamental shifts in trade and globalization.

There’s no hiding from these profound changes. Canadians are already seeing the impacts everywhere from our housing costs and grocery bills to the sense of anxiety that our kids feel about their future. So how do we own up to these big challenges? In BC and across Canada, what can our cities, governments, and economic leaders do to build a stronger economy and more prosperous future for us all?

Co-hosted with the Urban Land Institute of BC, join Canada 2020 for a featured lunch conversation on securing growth for all in a fast-changing world – in conversation with Mark Carney (former Governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England, UN Special Envoy for Climate Action and Finance, and Canada 2020 Advisory Board Chair), Ken Sim (Mayor of Vancouver), and Christine Bergeron (President and CEO of Vancity).
